This was the first time I have ever done stand up comedy.
February 4th 2010 marked the first time ever at Velvet Underground, Zouk, KL and definitely will not be my last.
Comedy Thursday was organized by the awesome people from TimeOut KL Magazine.
The feeling is overwhelming when you get the crowd into your joke. I must admit I was pretty damned nervous to get on stage.
I still need to improve a lot on my delivery and set up. Practice makes perfect and thats exactly what I plan on doing.
A special thanks to Arshad Zhafri, my best buddy who found out about Young Comedians of Malaysia for me.
Special thanks to Phoon Chi Ho, who booked me on February, tolerated my messages on Facebook and made me feel most welcome.
Special thanks to Papi Zak, my long lost friend of 18 years ago, for the guidance and advice.
I shared the stage with veterens Dominica Malcolm, Papi Zak, Yugi, Kavin and Steve Northcott, it was a humbling experience and I can’t wait for trying out on any other gigs. Below are pics of me on stage, thanks to Safriz Photography.
It’s amazing how time flies when I think back of all the stuff I’ve been through, it’s amazing to know I’m alive and kickin’ and loving every moment of my life. I have an amazing wife and an awesome kid and they have made each and every step of my life much more happier.
Some of the highlights so far :
- Marrying the love of my life.
- Having an amazing kid.
- Watching Muse play live in KL.
- Watching KoRn play live in KL.
- Meeting Manchester United legends and getting their autograph. (Giggs, Rooney, Scholes)
- Performing stand up comedy. (Coming this 4th Feb 2010, Velvet Underground, Zouk, KL)
- Directing my own short film. (definitely not going to be the last)
- Getting a picture with Danny Choo and featured on his blog. (AFA 2009)
These are a few highlights, of course there were many more, but these are by far the amazing ones in the past 2 years.

Me and my late mother.
There comes moments in which while I sit here starting in front of the monitor, this sudden need to be next to my son comes piercing, crunching my heart. And, it’s just easy to explain.. I simply miss him. I never get bored looking at him… His ramblings are music to the ear…
And the best yet is his smile, the smile which just steals my heart. His smile is like a blackhole which just sucks all my worries away.
Son.. I love you. Below, an earlier pic of him.
One of the best moments of having a baby in the family is hearing them laugh.
We love listening to him laugh, it makes us forget about a lot of things. Son, I love you.
Barf Vader/Mikael makes it on DannyChoo.com.
It was Otaku Fever when we went for Anime Festival Asia ‘09. Tons of Japanese culture related booths! Toys galore! Manga madness!
Here’s a pic taken from his site from Danny Choo’s post AFA Day 1 :
My apologies for my lack of updates on this blog. It’s been a very busy few months for me.
Dear Mikael,
About 5 days ago you were 1 month old. It’s amazing to see you grow so fast. Daddy remembers when you first got that baby tshirt you were wearing. It was HUGE!! But look at you know, it’s almost as if you went to the gym to pump up a few! Mummy and daddy really had no idea how we wanted to celebrate your first month, so we decided to take random shots of you! I mean check yourself out and tell me that you don’t think you look cute! We can’t take our eyes of you, Mikael, from your sleep time, to your milk and burp time, everything has been awesome!! It’s so fun to see you grow, you’re pretty darn cute at this moment, I guess you got it from daddy, cos really daddy’s one awesome looking guy, ‘cept for the flabs he put on while he met your mother (don’t tell her this.. I’m not saying it’s her fault.. hehe).
Daddy actually decided to write this down because one day, you’ll grow up, and like most father and son, there’s going to be this moment in which we’re going to have this awkward feeling of saying mushy mushy stuffs, but hey daddy is totally cool with it if you’re cool! I mean we can break this awkward trend right ? Do like these awesome new stuffs to show our feelings, right ? Instead of “I love you daddy”, in 20 years time, how bout you go “You’re the man, dad! You’re the man!” Daddy will be 45 years old that time, and he’ll probably give you a fist bump or high five, unless of course daddy starts being some scary ass grumpy old man. (Note : Your grandpa (sorry Pa) was pretty scary during his 40’s). So yeah, daddy’s pretty sure you’ll grow up to be an awesome son.
Until then, thank you for coming into our lives Mikael, we love you so much!
- Your Awesome Daddy.
